Under the rain... by Kriloner Under the rain... by Kriloner
I know this is not a real nature shot, but its face under the rain was so funny... and I could understand it because I too am really really pissed off with this french weather since a few weeks...

Hope you'll have a little thought for this tiny wet owl under the parisian rain!

"What a bad luck... *grumpy* Niep. What are you looking at? Hey, don't laugh, mothafucka. DO NOT LAUGH. Yeah yeah..."

French weather, ah ah xD It's 30c 6 monthes of the year. The last 6monthes are wet, or cold. Or hot as well. If you were in France this spring, you just were unlucky, there was too much rain ^^

It's probably in their care for a good reason, you know that right? As in, if they released it into the wild right now, it'd probably die, and im assuming they're trying to rehabilitate it so that they can eventually safely return it into the wild. just assuming though, but i doubt im far off

You got the point there. But if the reality is the latter assumption, I guess it couldn't be tolerated, because wild animal should live in the wild, free. Unless iti s originally domesticated, bred from captive, because it capable not to survive alone without being trained first.

Anyway, I can see the pain in the eyes of the owl, being left under the the rain showers, while people around here just make fun of that poor little owl, saying things such as "Damn epic FACE!!" or something similar. It's STILL a being. Feels the cold and wet. And you can even see its leg being tied/chained. Poor fella. I wonder how these people would feel, being tied up and left alone in the midst of the cold rain.

"the pain in the eyes of the owl" i know (or hope) youre not being literal, but if the owl was actually in distress its feathers would be ruffled up, and if it were really depressed, it probably would refuse to eat, which most likely isnt the case considering it appears to be well fed. of course theres a good possibility of it being unhappy about the idea of being in captivity, its a wild animal, whether it was born in captivity or not, but the thing is, like most animals in this situation, it might not know that its under the care of people for the better. and by the way, owls eyes usually look "tired" like that. its just their neutral expression most of the time, giving it that 'wise' appearance that most people comment about. of course, it depends on the specific species, but in this case that owl looks perfectly normal, like how you would see one in the wild. and whether that owl was wild or not, rain would still get to it. its feet would still be wet and cold. i doubt the rain was even that bad, because most shelters for birds of prey have indoor places for the animals to go for when it rains really hard.
"you can even see its leg being tied/chained" of course??? like you and i have both mentioned, "its not capable to survive alone without being trained first". if it werent 'tied', it would most likely fly away (again, its in its nature) and it wouldnt survive in the wild. these people are most likely trying to rehabilitate it so that it can be released eventually. i cant promise you that though, given the lack of information about this case specifically, but thats how it is for most cases of birds of prey in captivity (ive visted plenty of shelters and have talked to a lot of people that work at places like that) also, those ties arented really chains at all, theyre called jesses i believe, and are fairly safe and harmless. you can actually read a lot about this stuff in this article en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falconry…
believe me, this owl and many like it are in captivity for a good reason. im not saying all are, but most in shelters for birds of prey are getting rehabilitated and are usually very well cared for

This is incredible! And what do you mean, it's "not a real nature shot"? It involves a wild animal, so I think that is pretty natural.

A few weeks ago there was the same with the weather here on a sunday. There was a bird show and a falconer came with his birds and owls. In the afternoon when I was there a heavy downpour started and the poor ones sat on their posts. But the falconer put them into their boxes in the van, when the rain was too heavy. Later they got on their posts too, but they were still a bit wet and some of them let hang their wet wings a bit down. And there was a little owl too, but it had a safe place in a little wooden hut where he peeked out.
